High-Flying Birthday Party

I have a confession: I am obsessed with children’s birthday parties. I love planning them, I love going to them, and I especially love the creativity that they allow. After doing a few myself and helping friends with others, I have put together a few tips for hosting a great children’s birthday party. ...read more

Wedding Series: Tis the Season for Wedding Planning!

One of my favorite movies of all time is The Wedding Planner starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey. In the movie, Jennifer has this one line that goes… “You know the expression, ‘Those who don't do teach? Well those who don't wed plan!’” Oh yes, that line just speaks volumes about my life. I’m one of the few gals among my group of friends that hasn’t married or had kids yet. So when it comes to these monumental life-changing moments, I’m the one on the sidelines just observing and taking it all in. ...read more

Road Trip! Kids Activities Round-Up

Another week, another round-up! Now that we’re past Valentine’s Day, I’m already starting to get spring fever - which to me means vacation. Road trips, sunshine, maybe a beach! Trips like that can be a little tough with small kids though, so I thought I’d share a few ideas I’ve come across that keep the little ones busy while on the road or in the air. And who knew there’d be SO MANY ideas – and Web sites – out there to help parents with this challenge! Here are a couple of my faves: ...read more

An Ovation-Worthy Oscar Party

I am sooo excited…the Oscars take place on March 7th – something I watch as devoutly as many people watch the Super Bowl. And this year it’s bigger and better than ever with 10 films to pick from for Best Picture. I think that calls for a celebration! Pop the popcorn, bring out the Junior Mints and invite your favorite film friends over for a “night at the Oscars” party.

Because of all the great titles up for the award this year, I thought I’d throw an idea out there. Rather than just having some friends over to watch the stars and critique the fashions – maybe this year it’s time to get into the Academy Awards action by bringing Hollywood home. Bring the movies to life at the party by asking all the guests to dress as a character in one of the nominated films. And with the movies this year, things could get very interesting! ...read more

Promote Your Business On the Go

Riddle me this, small business owners: What stays in one place but moves all over? A promotional vehicle magnet, of course! With this mobile advertisement, you can keep your company name top of mind and get exposure as you drive each day. This type of signage can serve you in ways that static advertising can’t, so consider adding them to your marketing strategy to pique the interest of potential customers.

The best part is that the magnets are removable, so you can change them out and replace as often as you like! Or, if your personal car doubles as your company car, you can remove them when you’re off the clock. Depending on your business, you could even do something seasonally or offer special discounts to customers who mention seeing the promotional magnet. ...read more

What to Do with Those Mardi Gras Beads?

Last February, I ran in the 12th Annual Mardi Gras Run in Dallas, and the first thing I noticed upon arriving at the race was the huge crowd of walkers and runners. I was a little intimidated at first – as it had been quite a few years since my last 5K – but I ended up having a total blast. Some people were dressed in wild costumes and others had their faces painted. Everyone seemed to have smiles on their faces and there was a collective energetic spirit in the air. The best part was the group of event volunteers standing around the finish line with armfuls of Mardi Gras beads. As each race participant crossed the finish line, they were showered with beaded necklaces in bright green, gold, silver, and purple colors. ...read more

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I’m just going to put this out there -- I love Valentine’s Day! I love the candy, the pink and red decorations, the hearts, the mushiness…all of it. In fact, this day holds special meaning for me because my parents got engaged on Valentine’s Day exactly 31 years ago!

Some people aren’t fans of the holiday, but I think it’s fantastic.  What better opportunity do you have to tell the people in your life that you care about them? Last year, I found these adorable cards that said, “A Valentine to show you just how nice it is to know you.” It’s that spirit that makes me love Valentine’s Day so much. So when Cupid aims his arrow today, don’t duck!
